People who write about glass prisons should throw out their ideas

An elaborate title for a tag, I’m aware. But there’s a quality of boring inevitability vis-à-vis the contortions our plots, writers and heroes go through to keep the main baddie alive, usually thanks to SotL, in a glass prison. Wow, that movie ruined other movies twice.

Sure, this classically American ethical dilemma implies that it is fine to kill minions and not the guy who’s the cause of it all, but it’s more about not wanting to/being able to come up with new characters. Watching films where you know the outcome to be terribly circumscribed is as exactly as interesting as the writers are able to make it.
