Refers to the fact that stupid characters are generally hard to sympathize with, but generally easy to write, meaning that stupid writers are really hard to sympathize with. The guy who doesn’t check to see if the flesh-dripping succubus is actually dead, doesn’t pick up the gun, doesn’t call the police, and then turns around to pet his cat, all the while saying: ‘I’m sure glad I don’t have peripheral vision, and that the music is so loud, otherwise I might know that there’s something behind me’ kind of deserves to die.
Right, that’s why they make them stupid.
