The Trailer Point

Getting people to watch films, at the expense of making the films significantly less enjoyable.

Refers to the part of the film where, finally, we see the last bit that was in the trailer.  At this point in the film, one can breath a sigh of relief, because either 1) you can finally enjoy all the good stuff, or, more and more the case, 2) the credits are about to roll.  For an industry that relies almost exclusively on surprise, they sure do give away a lot.  They want to get people to watch films, at the expense of making the films significantly less enjoyable.  It’s a business model that, like dutch tulips, whale oil, and Facebook, will last forever.
