Refers to the fact that stupid characters are generally hard to sympathize with, but generally easy to write, meaning that stupid writers are really hard to sympathize with. ┬áThe guy who doesn’t check to see if the flesh-dripping succubus is actually dead, doesn’t pick up the gun, doesn’t call the police, and then turns around to pet his cat, all the while saying: ‘I’m sure glad I don’t have peripheral vision, and that the music is so loud, otherwise I might know that there’s something behind me’ kind of deserves to die.

Right, that’s why they make them stupid.
