The Boring Parts

I discovered, awfully late, that Mr. Elmore Leonard had stated the simplest maxim of writing: Leave out the boring parts. This rule applies, like all good rules should, to films that fall under it, or their opposite. Depending how you define ‘it’, naturally.

The tendency to shoot a script that really has only a half act and is strrrrreeeeettttchheeeeed out is just as likely to be named as the ones that have forty seven turns and buncha cool shit jammed in there. As to what defines ‘boring’, it’s like what defines ‘camp’:
