...Surprise! It's the surprise I told you about! Are you surprised?

Yeah, I hate twist endings, now de rigeur due to those like Mr. Alfred Hitchcock and Mr. M. Night Shamalayan who have done pulled them off.  Now the staple pablum of the Lost crowd, writing to the surprise is even worse than writing to the end, as it requires bland characters acting inconsistently for 90-150 minutes to give of one second of ‘Huh.’

You’re right.  ‘Huh’ is too strong.  But at least you have the other 89-149 minutes of ‘Bleech.’
